Emmanuel Ralph kotei Nikoi aka Okra Tom Dawidi is a Hiplife musician from La ,Accra Ghana. He is a product of St Johns and Accra Technical Training College (ATTC) all in Accra. While at St. Johns he formed the duo, Tom & Jerry with his childhood friend Jerry. The dynamic duo did not hesitate to enchant their audience with a mesmeric performance each time the opportunity arose.
With his brilliant wordplay , fiery flow and a nasally, aggressive voice, the versatile and thought provoking lyricist Okra caught the attention of Hammer (of the last two fame) and it was not surprising that Okrah was outdoored as a solo artiste on the the track Ayeeko which featured Tinny and Obrafuor from Obrafour’s Execution Diary compilation in 2003 .This was followed by other hits such as featuring Agymoa Kwesi Kwabena Kwabena (then known as George) in 2006 and Kosoa featuring Kwaw kese and Jagoo in 2010
Expressing his thoughts and emotions through clever diction, rapping about realities in a modern day global village, one cannot escape listening to his character emerge in his songs, Okra is indeed on a journey of authentic creative success.
Currently putting finishing touches to his soon to be launched Debut album in 2011 titled Ebutu (literally meaning “it has capsized”) this Accra born artiste is working with both known and unknown Ghana artists and producers including SARKODIE,KWABENA KWABENA ,SHERIFA GUNU Q-BEAT,BEAT DAKAY and EPHRIAM in bringing a new breath of freshness to Ghana’s music scene.
